He’s your not-so-typical entrepreneur from Carlton, Melbourne. And he uses POP to max his tax back.
High Quality Online Tax Returns for Entrepreneurs
Tell us about your work, Guiseppe.
“I run my own online luxury foods business. It’s real small at the moment, just supplying a few top-end delicatessens, and the odd restaurant in Melbourne and Sydney. I only sell boutique and artisan brands. Local stuff that’s made in small villages all over in Europe, y’know. Everything from olive oil to caviar to truffles to artichokes to special cheeses. I also make my own special brand of chilli oil here in Victoria.”
Come tax-time, what used to go through your brain?
“Well, it used to be a real pain in the proverbial, you know? I’m not embarrassed to say I still live with my folks (they’ve got a big house in the ’burbs, so it makes financial sense), but I also have a tiny little investment property, a one-bedroom apartment near the city, which I rent out. What that means is my tax used to be a total hassle.
But not since you started using POP to file your tax return?
“You got it. Seriously, I used to avoid it so much. So stressful, especially because of all my little side-businesses and incomes, etc. But not anymore, no way. I honestly feel like POP has armed me with a new life-skill, and their platform is total cinch to use.”
How did POP’s intuitive Max-Deductibles system work for a sole-trader like you who has a number of side-hustles on the go?
“Well, I liked how you could do pretty much everything online. It’s really clever the way it prompts you with all the deductible expenses you might not normally have twigged to include. And the back-end support is really excellent, too. In my case, because I technically qualify as a sole trader and I’ve also got my investment property ticking away in the background, whenever it got too tricksy or I wasn’t sure about something, it made sense to speak with one of POP’s accountants. Those guys are seriously onto it. They made filing my tax return as painless and stress-free as possible. POP is great, that way.”
Would you recommend POP to other sole-traders or side-hustlers like yourself?
“Yeah, for sure. I’ve even got all my sisters and brothers and cousins onto it. I got a really decent tax return this year on account of all my expenses in running my online business. And for the POP guys to process my return cost me only $129 total. I mean, can you imagine a normal accountant charging that little? Not a chance, mate.”
