He’s your not-so-typical electrician from Perth, Western Australia. And he uses POP to max his tax back.
Tell us about your work, Damo
“I’m a sparky. I work for a big company that services a lot of the big apartment blocks and business buildings in the CBD. No day’s quite the same, and you get to scoot around a bit, which is good. Keeps stuff interesting, I guess.”
Come tax-time, what used to go through your brain?
“Dude… I used to just flick all that stuff to my accountant to do. Same guy my Dad still uses. I never used to have time or interest to be bothered much with it, to be honest. Like a lot of tradies, I s’pose I was guilty of writing it off as a lot finicky, boring numbers. Total brain-ache.”
But not since you started using POP to file your tax return?
“Absolutely. Now, I just file it myself using their online site. It’s a breeze. Plus, a waaay better return, too.”
How did POP’s intuitive Max-Deductibles system work for you as a tradie?
“Simple, really. For someone like me, it’s inbuilt checklist offered me expert advice on every possible deductible I could claim, all in one easy-to-use online platform. I mean, just the idea that POP could guarantee to max the size of my tax return? I’m like, ‘Boom! Count me in!”
Would you recommend POP to other tradies?
“Funny you should say, because I did exactly that the moment my tax return came in. I was blown away by how good it was. Problem was, some of my mates had already filed theirs with their own accountants or the usual suspects online, and it was too late. Oh well, my shout at the bar, I guess. Nah, all seriousness… I’m saving for a home deposit, so I just plunked it straight into my savings.”
